Finding your best friend will be a walk in the park with us!
I ask that you read the entirety of this page if you are considering purchasing from me.
Please email me at witpdachshunds@gmail.com if you are interested in a puppy and feel free to ask any questions you may have. You may also apply for a puppy and make full payments on Good Dog ( https://www.gooddog.com/breeders/a-walk-in-the-park-missouri ). I have these options available under the Available Pups category on my site. You may only place a deposit on a current puppy. However, you may sign up to receive notifications next time I have pups available under my Waitlist category. I will always send more pictures and videos of any available puppies upon request, although due to my busy schedule it may take a few days to get them for you. I am always willing to facetime as well. I require all customers to sign a contract which can be found at the bottom of this page.
My puppies are ready to leave whenever they turn 8 weeks old. However, because miniature dachshunds are a smaller and more fragile breed, sometimes they are not ready to leave until they are older than 8 weeks. I usually wait until they are 9 weeks before allowing them to leave. If I have concerns about your puppy's weaning process, weight, or appetite, then I may decide to hold them for an extra week or two until I am 100% certain that they will be able to transition smoothly to a new home. If your puppy is travelling long-distance by air or by ground then I may decide to hold them for even longer to ensure that the puppy is solid enough to be able to travel. I determine this on a puppy-by-puppy basis depending on their appetites and weights.
If you decide to purchase a puppy, I will require a deposit, usually $600, to hold that puppy for you until it is ready to leave. The deposit will be considered a down payment and removed from the total price of the dog, so you will not be paying any more than the original price of the dog. My deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE in the case that you decide you no longer want to purchase the puppy. They can, however, be moved to a different dog or to a future litter if you so choose. I WILL refund a deposit only under these circumstances: if I decide that I no longer wish the puppy to go home with you, OR if the puppy falls severely ill, under injury, or dies while in MY care. I may require an additional fee to cover extra costs if you ask me to hold a puppy for several weeks or months after they are ready to leave, but I will NOT ask for an extra fee if I myself decide to hold your puppy for a few extra weeks. You may pay me the remaining amount on the day that the puppy is delivered. If you decide to ship, then the full price will need to be paid before we book a flight. Payments can be made through Good Dog, PayPal, or in cash if you decide to pick up the puppy in person. I can also accept Venmo but it is not preferred. I will not take cash that has to be mailed to me. If you purchase from me through Good Dog, then all payments must comply with Good Dog's policy. Good Dog requires all payments to be made through them to prevent scams.
We can deliver puppies to most locations. However, shipping is usually $395, or more, and it will be expected that you cover the costs for your puppy to be shipped. We can offer long-distance ground travel directly to your door as well, however, this is usually $550 or more depending on your location, and is not our preferred method of travel. If you choose to have your puppy delivered via long-distance ground transport, then we will wait until the puppy is older than 8 weeks to send. We can meet partway to surrounding 4-state areas either for free or for a smaller fee. Or, you may come pick up your puppy in Neosho or Granby for no additional cost. We can usually meet about an hour away for no additional cost, but this also depends on the price of the puppy and my personal schedule.
I may offer discounts to repeat customers only. All of the money that I receive goes back into caring for myself and my dogs and it is essential that I can rely on full payments.
I also have a contract that must be signed and returned either digitally or physically before you may purchase a puppy. It can be found at the bottom of this page, or you may ask me for a digital copy.
I have the right to refuse to sell you a dog if I feel for any reason that you are unfit to own it. I reserve this right to protect my dogs and ensure that they end up in good homes.
When puppies go to their new home they are CURRENT on vaccinations, dewormings and health care, but will need MORE vaccinations, dewormings and vet care as they get older.
This includes adults, who will continue to need yearly rabies and booster vaccinations, as well as heartworm prevention and regular deworming. Usually, heartworm prevention is given monthly. Puppies 14 weeks old or older will have finished their puppy shots, however, they will still need boosters and yearly rabies.
The vaccinations that puppies receive while here with us are not enough to fully protect them against deadly diseases such as parvo and distemper. It is very important that they are scheduled with your vet for their remaining vaccinations. We ask that puppies be seen by your vet within three days of arriving in their new home. If you receive your puppy at 8 or 9 weeks old, then they will need more shots in ONE to TWO weeks. When receiving a puppy, you will receive their shot records as well. Your vet will be able to tell you what shots they need as they grow based on their current vaccinations.
“According to the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), puppies should be vaccinated every two to four weeks between the ages of 6 and 16 weeks with the final puppy vaccines given no earlier than 16 weeks of age. All puppies should receive the core vaccines of canine distemper, adenovirus 2, canine parvovirus, parainfluenzavirus, and rabies virus."
All of our puppies are microchipped before they leave. There is a card included in the puppy pack with information on how to register the chip in your name. Please be sure and register the microchip into your name, and keep the contact information up to date, this is very important so if your puppy is lost or stolen and someone scans the chip they can contact you as soon as possible.
If your dog goes missing, then it is urgent to contact neighbors, local facebook groups, and to call shelters and rescues in the area. Post about them and put up flyers as often as you can- if your puppy is stolen and resold by the thief then it may be possible that the person who buys them recognises them as a lost pet through your posts or flyers.

Upon signing anywhere on this contract AND/OR completing the purchase of a puppy from A Walk In The Park Dachshunds, the puppy/dog buyer of A Walk In The Park Dachshunds agrees to all of the terms and agreements inscribed in this contract. For simplicity, A Walk In The Park Dachshunds has been shortened to WITP. WITP is synonymous with the owner and breeder at A Walk In The Park Dachshunds. Any puppy/dog mentioned throughout this contract is synonymous to the puppy/dog that the buyer purchases or adopts from WITP.
The puppy/dog may not be rehomed, abandoned, or given away in any manner without WITP's explicit knowledge and consent. The puppy/dog may NOT under ANY circumstances be surrendered to a shelter, rescue, foster home, animal rights group, or other animal group. The buyer understands that WITP will ALWAYS willingly take back a dog for ANY reason at the buyer's expense. The buyer agrees to pay for all transport costs IF the puppy/dog needs to be returned to WITP.
The buyer agrees to never rehome, sell, or give away the puppy/dog without WITP's consent and to never abandon or surrender the puppy/dog to an animal shelter, rescue group, or foster home of any kind, nor to purposefully or knowingly place the puppy/dog in any situation in which it is possible for the puppy/dog to end up homeless, in an animal shelter, rescue group, or foster home.
The buyer understands that if any part of this contract is broken, either by the buyer or seller, then the buyer is still obligated to never rehome, abandon, nor surrender the puppy/dog without WITP's consent.

The buyer understands that, when taking a puppy/dog back, WITP is not obligated to give compensation or refund of any kind. WITP may, however, offer a replacement puppy/dog of the same quality and price to the buyer. The buyer understands that when returning a puppy/dog to WITP, all shot records and registration papers must be returned entirely to WITP. If the buyer's previous puppy/dog's registration papers and shot records are not returned in their entirety to WITP, then the buyer will NOT receive another puppy/dog from WITP in replacement or purchase or otherwise.
The buyer agrees to never intentionally put their puppy/dog in a situation in which they may be harmed, injured, or become sick. The buyer agrees to keep their puppy/dog up-to-date on vaccinations and yearly deworming. The buyer agrees to not let their puppy/dog become emaciated or obese. The buyer agrees to take their new puppy/dog, no matter their age, to the vet within 14 days of receiving.
WITP does not take responsibility and will not offer compensation for any form of harm caused to the puppy/dog due to the buyer's ownership. WITP does not take responsibility for any of the puppy/dog's expenses after it is given to the buyer. If WITP suspects that the puppy/dog's new home is abusive or neglectful, then WITP reserves the right to get law enforcement involved for an investigation. If these suspicions turn out to be true in the name of the law, then WITP reserves the right to take back the puppy/dog and all corresponding paperwork with no compensation to the buyer and at the buyer's expense.
The buyer is aware that WITP will not replace a puppy/dog unless the puppy/dog suffers from an untreatable, chronic, and debilitating congenital defect that hinders the puppy/dog's quality of life within the puppy/dog's first year of living with the buyer, OR unless they suffer significant injury, death, or disappearance while under WITP's care. Under the circumstances that the puppy/dog must be replaced due to a congenital defect that aligns with the above terms, the puppy/dog's congenital defect must be diagnosed with written proof by the buyer's vet in order for the puppy/dog to be replaced by WITP. The buyer understands that WITP's health warranty does NOT cover IVDD in miniature dachshunds, and thus WITP will NOT replace a puppy/dog if they suffer from IVDD. The buyer understands that WITP is NOT under obligation to refund any puppy/dog or related costs under any circumstances. WITP's health warranty also does NOT cover any conditions that are known to and discussed with the buyer before purchasing. Said conditions may be listed below.
Known Conditions: _______________
Buyer Approval and Knowledge Signature: _________________
The buyer understands that a puppy/dog, under any circumstances, may only be replaced if the previous puppy/dog's registration papers and shot records were returned to WITP entirely. The buyer understands that any puppy/dog, under any circumstances, may only be replaced with a puppy/dog of equal quality and price.
The buyer is aware that they are responsible for the health, care, and condition of this dog, as well as any and all costs once it is under their care.
The buyer agrees to begin their puppy/dog's registered name with "WITP's" regardless of registry used or of rights given, if the buyer so chooses to register their puppy/dog.
Is the puppy/dog being sold to the buyer with full breeding rights? Y / N
If N, then by signing this contract, the buyer agrees to sterilise their puppy/dog within 2 years, but not before the age of 1, and to never breed their puppy/dog.
If Y, then by signing this contract, the buyer agrees to prevent any accidental, non-purposeful, or non-registerable litters from this puppy/dog to the best of their ability.
The buyer, regardless of breeding rights, agrees to not sterilise the puppy/dog before they are 1 year old UNLESS there is an emergency at the buyer’s discretion in which sterilisation is needed.
The buyer understands that WITP cannot guarantee the quality, size, colour, breeding ability, genetic health, working ability, or show capabilities of the buyer's puppy/dog.
The buyer agrees to not sue nor seek any legal action against the breeder(s) from which their puppy/dog came. The buyer agrees to not spam or harass on social media, in person, or otherwise the breeder(s) from which their puppy/dog came.
The buyer agrees to place a non-refundable deposit on their puppy/dog before their full purchase under the circumstance that they are unable to pick up the puppy/dog, for any reason, on the same day that they pick out their puppy/dog from WITP. The buyer agrees that their deposit will not be refunded unless WITP decides that the puppy/dog cannot be sold to the buyer. The buyer agrees that if the buyer decides that they can no longer purchase or take home their chosen puppy/dog, then no refund of any kind will be made.
The buyer agrees to these terms upon signing this contract and/or purchasing a puppy/dog from WITP.
