Here at WITP, we are constantly improving our program. Our girls retire young after 2-3 litters or less, so we are keeping back multiple girls at a time to grow out. Not all of these girls will join our program -- that depends on how they mature and future health testing.

Our biggest focus has been improving conformation, breeding away from Piebald, and focusing more on long coats. In 2026, we plan on moving away from piebald -- we will still have a few piebalds in our program, but our hope is to plan breedings so that we do not have any piebald puppies. We may occasionally continue to pair piebald carriers where we may get 1-2 piebalds in a litter. We also plan on retiring all of our smooth girls this year except for Fergie, so Fergie will be our only smooth female. We may or may not decide to keep a smooth male to pair to her, since we are also trying to get away from breeding smooths to longs in order to preserve coat type. We are also trying to focus on conformation so that we may start showing more in AKC these upcoming years. It is a slow process, but we saw a LOT of improvement in our dogs in 2025, and hope to keep that momentum going in 2026! This means we may have several of our up-and-coming dogs 'washed' from our program before they ever have puppies, and it also means many of our girls will be retiring after only 1 litter. Our goal with every litter is to keep back a puppy that is nicer quality than the parents (or at least the mom, since our boys are very nice). Once we've kept a puppy back that improves upon the mom, the mom is then able to retire, where she will be spayed and either live with us or find a new retirement home.
